Government concern about weak job market, who’s going to give you a job?

If you’re unemployed and waiting for the government to bail you out, or waiting for them to give you a job, don’t!

Have you ever heard a person (maybe even you’ve said this) say, “Nobody wants to give me a job!”

That statement is so true! No company wants to just give a person a job. Companies hire people who provide value. Companies are actively looking for, in good times and bad, individuals who can benefit their company. The more value a person can provide the more in demand they are.

Unfortunately, far too many job seekers are looking for someone to give them a job. There are about 10,000,000 unemployed people in the U.S. alone.

Equally unfortunate is that there are so few people who show potential employers they are excellent. So few who can express that they perform outstanding work, and that they consistently have a great attitude!

Imagine for a minute that you are a hiring manager. Who do you want working for you? A person who wants a job? A person who just does the minimum? Of course not, you want someone who acts like they want to come to work every day. You prefer someone who works hard, does their best in everything they are asked to do, someone who gets along well with others.

No wonder excellent workers almost never get laid off. They are usually the last to go and the first to find a new job, because all companies love excellent workers!

The point of this article is simply this…

Our destiny in the world of work and in life is largely up to us! We get to choose if we will be our best.

Today if you still have a job, start focusing on being the best you can be. Focus on getting and maintaining a positive upbeat attitude! Be grateful for what you have no matter what your situation is (think of Haiti)!

If you’re currently looking for a job, focus on creating the best resume, conducting the most thorough job search (repeatedly), and on conducting the most excellent interviews you are capable of. Research, study, and try different things until you hear the words, “Your Hired!”

Don’t wait for others to give you a job. Don’t wait for the Government to bail you out. Stop worrying about the things you can’t control and focus on the one thing you can.

Focus only on being excellent! Doing the very best you can at whatever task is before you. The more you do, the greater job security and success you’ll enjoy throughout your entire life!

To your success!

Mark
